2010: From my first camera...
As mentioned on the home page of this ePortfolio, I started having an interest in photography when I was in junior high. However, it wasn't until 2010, when I was in grade 10, that I received my first digital camera. It was just a small, red, Canon point-and-shoot camera and even though I'd already been working with bigger cameras with interchangable lenses, I couldn't wait to get out and start taking pictures! These are some of the first photos I ever took with a camera I owned.
Every time I pass the river, I have always been fascinated by the broken posts that stick up on a small island. I tried figuring out a way to frame the posts using nature.
When I saw this boot track, I took this photo at least five times trying to get the essence of the texture I could see in real life to show in the photo.
I wanted to showcase the contrast between the dead plant and the thriving river so I explored using depth of field to draw attention to that contrast.

Bow River: First Photoshoot
Throughout high school, I would ride the city bus past the Bow River in Calgary every day. When I recieved my first camera owned by me, I decided to use it to take pictures of the part of the river I saw while on the bus. This was my first time really exploring landscape photos. My photography experience up to that point had been focused on school events that I covered for the yearbook. *Click on image to see it on a larger scale.*
